PURSUING AN ALTERNATIVE
Wayne eventually began exploring alternatives to traditional socket prosthetics and learned about the OPRA™ Implant System, which allows amputees to connect their prosthesis directly to an implant anchored in the bone.
By eliminating the need for a socket, the system provides a secure connection between the prosthesis and the body and allows users to move more naturally throughout the day.
After undergoing treatment and rehabilitation, Wayne began experiencing a new level of stability and awareness while walking.
“Now I can feel the floors. I can tell when I go from carpet to hardwood.”
THE REHABILITATION JOURNEY
Recovery with the OPRA™ Implant System is a gradual process, and Wayne continues to build strength and confidence as he adapts to new movements and environments.
“I’m learning something new every day,” he says. “Learning how to get in and out of different chairs, how to maneuver around obstacles, and how to walk up and down steps.”
As his mobility improved, everyday activities that once required extra planning became much easier.
A NEW LEVEL OF FREEDOM
Before OPRA™, Wayne relied on a wheelchair-accessible vehicle to travel with family, which often limited how many people could ride together. Today, he enjoys a simpler routine.
“Now we can all fit in an SUV,” Wayne says. “I just walk up to the door, get in, and drive.”
For Wayne, the experience has been transformative.
“The OPRA™ system is a game changer. It really is.”
